Reinfeld, Deutschland - The motorhome industry is on the abyss! In Schleswig-Holstein, the motorhome dealer "Auto und Leisure North" from Reinfeld has filed for bankruptcy. With around 60 employees and two subsidiaries, this is a hard blow for the industry. The boom, which drove the sales figures up during the Corona period, now seems to be over. Traders complain about high stocks, while the demand for motorhomes and caravans are no longer as strong as before.

The bankruptcy of "Auto und Leisure North" is not the only alarming sign. The Bavarian manufacturer Knaus Tabbert also paused the production in two works, and the manufacturer Camper Base from Lörrach also registered bankruptcy a few months ago. These developments raise questions: Why can some retailers no longer sell? However, a spokesman for the Caravaning Industry Association (CIV) emphasizes that demand is still available to increase the new registration of residential vehicles by 9.9 percent compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, there are also declines in caravans that have dropped by 2.2 percent.

The dealers are concerned about the economic situation. Luca Reimers from Reimers Reisemobil GmbH reports on reserved buyers who are influenced by political and economic uncertainties. Many of the companies concerned are relatively new and had difficulties before the crisis. The managing director of Caravanpark "Tension ... An", Bernd Eichstedt, explains that a slight overcapping must be broken down, which leads to a decline in profits. The manufacturers sometimes drive short -time work to adapt production.

The consumer center advises potential buyers to thoroughly check the companies before a deposit in order to avoid possible delivery difficulties. Despite the challenges, camping passion in Schleswig-Holstein remains unbroken, and people are still interested in motorhomes. But the industry has to adapt to master the current economic challenges.
