Serious accident to B431: motorcyclists injured life -threatening!

On Saturday evening there was a serious traffic accident at the Bundesstraße 431 at 6:15 p.m. A 65-year-old man from Glückstadt drove into the intersection with his company car and collided with a 21-year-old motorcyclist from Neuendorf, who was traveling from Glückstadt. The impact was so violent that the motorcyclist was thrown several meters through the air and remained seriously injured on the side of the road.

While the car driver did not suffer any injuries from the triggered airbag, his wife suffered minor injuries and a shock in the passenger seat. It was immediately transported to the Itzehoe Clinic by the emergency services. The motorcyclist had to be taken to a Hamburg hospital under an emergency doctor, but life -threatening injuries should not have been attested during first aid.

Because of the initially unclear number of injuries, in addition to several ambulances and an emergency doctor, the First Responder of the Glückstadt fire brigade and fire fighters from the Engelbrechche wilderness fire brigade were sent to the scene of the accident. These secured the area and took care of leaked operating materials and the complete blocking of the intersection in all directions.

Both vehicles involved, the Mercedes and the motorcycle, suffered total damage due to the impact. A DEKRA expert was consulted to determine the exact cause of the accident. It is also checked whether the foggy weather conditions have played a role or whether the motorcyclist may have drove too quickly. There is a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour within the intersection area, and stop signs were recently installed due to previous traffic accidents to increase safety at this intersection.

The exact circumstances of the accident are currently still unclear, while the investigations by the police and the expert are constantly. The situation has attracted the attention of the local authorities to evaluate possible further measures to improve traffic safety in this area.
