Itzehoe. A dramatic accident on the A23 in the district of Steinburg caused excitement late Tuesday evening. A 46-year-old driver from Husum lost control of his Suzuki while trying to overtake another vehicle. The driver was alcoholic and blew 0.59 per thousand. Witnesses had previously observed him in snake lines on the highway when he left a rest area.
The terrible incident occurred between the Itzehoe-Nord and Schenefeld. The driver raced over the overtaking lane at about 120 km/h when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle. The Suzuki first crashed into the middle protection plank before hurling across the road and colliding with the outer protection schedule. Fortunately, no further vehicles were involved in the accident.
injured inmates and high damage
The three occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, his 40-year-old passenger and a 32-year-old woman on the back seat, complained about pain and were brought to the Itzehoe Clinic as a precaution. All three are considered slightly injured. The fire brigade secured the scene of the accident, while the A23 had to be closed for about 30 minutes. The Suzuki was so badly damaged that it had to be towed. The property damage amounts to around 4,000 euros, the repair costs are likely to exceed the current value of the vehicle.
Investigations into danger of road traffic
The police found that all three occupants of the vehicle were alcoholic. Due to the alcoholization of the driver, an investigation is now being initiated for road traffic hazard. His driver's license is on the brink. This incident is another example of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and the associated risks on our streets.
