The first new speed cameras are set up in Bönningstedt, Hemdingen and Elmshorn, while Heede, Heidgraben and Borstel-Hohenraden lose their speed cameras.

The new speed measuring devices are gradually put into operation. The old devices remain active until December 31, to ensure a smooth transition. Wohlers emphasized that the new speed camera will not be permanently equipped with a camera at every location. Instead, a total of four cameras are available for the five locations, with one exception in Schenefeld, where the technology runs continuously.

The new speed camera are not only a technical upgrade, but also a step to improve traffic safety. An evaluation of the frequency of accidents will take place after half a year at the earliest to measure the success of the new facilities.
