Green boss Gazi Freitag warns of deportations: Asylum law must remain!
Schleswig-Holstein, Deutschland - in Schleswig-Holstein, Gazi Friday, the head of the Greens, has become offensive in the debate about migration. At a recently taken place, he explained that the initiatives for migration, which were brought in by the black and green coalition in the Federal Council, enjoy support to his party, but rejected additional tightening. This clear positioning takes place in a context of increasing migration numbers and the associated pressure on municipal structures.
"We have to take responsibility", warned Freitag and pointed out the challenges that the government party must currently cope with. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the measures that aim to keep the existing system functional without violating significant human rights standards. "It must be ensured that we protect the basic principles of asylum law," he affirmed. One decisive goal remains that there may be no hollowing out the right to asylum.
demand for fair asylum procedures
Friday also expressly demanded that there may be no illegal deportations in uncertain countries of origin and that access to fair asylum procedures is guaranteed for all those seeking protection. "The limit that may be exceeded is clearly in the guarantee of these rights," he said, unequivocally clear that the Greens cannot support far -reaching measures that go beyond the regulations that are currently decided.
This Federal Council initiative, which was initiated together with the black and green coalitions from North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, aims to regulate the transfer of those seeking protection within Europe more effectively. Nevertheless, the inner tension explains Friday that can be observed within his own party while emphasizing that the Greens will hold on to their humanitarian course.
The allegation of polemics rejected Friday and criticized Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), who, according to Freitag, stirs up with his statements and draws a distorted picture of migration. "This constant polemic against the Greens is not only wrong, but dangerous. It weakens social cohesion and ultimately plays right -wing extremists in the cards," he warned.
Friday took the opportunity to highlight Schleswig-Holstein as an example of a successful green government. "We have shown that ecological change and economic rationality can go hand in hand," he said. The Greens have been part of the government in Schleswig-Holstein since 2012 and have proven that their politics is not only environmentally friendly, but also economically viable.
