Internships in Heiligenhafen: Edeka and Warderschule strengthen cooperation!

Heiligenhafen. An exciting chapter for Warderschule and Edeka Jens! The two institutions have renewed their longstanding partnership to give students valuable insights into the professional world. Headmistress Kristina Krämer is enthusiastic: "We are super frozen! Edeka Jens is a company that our youngsters like to record for internships." Since 2015, pupils have had the opportunity to immerse yourself in the company's processes and gain practical experience.

René Bohnsack, responsible for training and personnel development at Edeka Jens, emphasizes the importance of internships: "Here the young people get to know everything from theory to practice." But not only the students benefit - companies also have some of it. "The employer can show young people what awaits him," explains Bohnsack. At a time when trainees are rare, this cooperation is a bright spot. Stefan Kloth from the Lübeck Chamber of Crafts warns: "Trainees are in short supply. Companies have to make an effort." The numbers speak for themselves: In meat trade, the training numbers have dropped dramatically.

interns are treated like future colleagues

The interns at Edeka Jens are not only regarded as helpers. "You will be treated like future colleagues," says Kloth. This means that you are actively integrated into all processes and not just do simple tasks. Luan, Bennet, Conner and Leonie, who completed all internships at Edeka, report on their experiences. While Luan enjoyed working on the salad bar, Conner liked the online shop. Despite the positive experiences, the students agree: a profession in the food market is out of the question for them. Nevertheless, it turns out that the cooperation bears fruit - every year one to three students find their way to Edeka Jens.

The challenge of filling apprenticeships is great. Sandra Hagedorn, professional orientation coordinator at the Warderschule, confirms: "Companies are advertising with us." The Jens Group not only offers a fair training allowance, but also incentives such as tablets after the trial period and travel grants. Managing Director Swen Rathjens emphasizes: "The tasks in the food trade are diverse and offer opportunities for advancement." An exciting picture for the future of training in Heiligenhafen!
