CDU relies on WadePhul: List on the Bundestag election in Neumünster!
The CDU Schleswig-Holstein chose its top candidate for the upcoming Bundestag elections on the evening of December 11, 2024. At a state representative assembly in Neumünster, Johann WadePhul, who is currently working as a Vice of the Union faction, received the overwhelming support of 97.7 percent of the delegates who voted for his nomination. "The nomination in one evening is a step in the right direction to be more family -friendly," said the CDU, while at the same time formulating the criticism of the traffic policy of the SPD and the Greens. WadePhul accused the current rulers of having outdated views on the infrastructure, especially with regard to the bypass of Kiel, which is characterized by a lack of motorway connections.
voting right reform under fire
A central topic that Wade Phul appealed during its nomination was the controversial voting right reform. This reform fundamentally changes the number of seats on mandates after the choice and makes overhang and equalization mandates obsolete. "The voting right reform is the worst solution that could exist to reduce the Bundestag," WadePhul told the Kieler Nachrichten. This could cause candidates who win their constituencies to not receive a place in the Bundestag. To prevent this, the CDU calls for a withdrawal of the reform and plans to sign a coalition agreement only under this requirement. More than 200 delegates have decided on a country list that is equal and comprises a total of 37 candidates, including prominent names like Petra Nicolaisen and Melanie Bernstein.
The Bundestag election is now eagerly awaited after the traffic light coalition is in a crisis. A crucial moment is imminent: Chancellor Olaf Scholz has to ask a question of trust in the Bundestag on December 16, whose outcome could decide on new elections on February 23, 2025. The CDU is optimistic-according to Forsa survey, the Union could be 31 percent, which gives hope for a stronger result than in last year's election. The debates on the right to vote and the upcoming elections will shape the political landscape in Schleswig-Holstein, while the CDU is preparing to strengthen its positions to win all eleven constituencies.
In addition, the Kreiszeitung stated that the electoral law reform in the applicant landscape brings.
