In a glamorous ceremony in Kiel, the Order of Merit of the State of Schleswig-Holstein was awarded on Tuesday! Professor Dr. Volkert Faltings, a passionate fighter for the Frisian language and culture from Utersum on Föhr, was awarded for his tireless efforts. Films, which launched the popular radio broadcast "Friisk Funk" and taught at the only school until 2015, on which the Abitur in Friesisch can be taken, has made a name that radiates far beyond the borders of North Frisia.

But he is not the only one who was honored on this special evening! The world-famous clarinetist Sabine Meyer and Ingrid Schatz, the chair of the Lübeck-Schlutup border documentation center, also received the coveted award.
