Möllner Youth Volunteering Award: Owl as a symbol of commitment!
Mölln – The tension is rising! The city of Mölln and the Mölln Community Foundation are calling for nominations for the coveted youth volunteer award, which annually honors the impressive achievements of young people from the city. Since 2012, this special prize has traditionally been awarded at the New Year's reception and is now an absolute highlight of volunteer work. An artistically designed owl figure, made by the talented Mölln sculptor Hans-Werner Könecke, will be presented to the beaming winner.
But that's not all! The winner can also look forward to a cash prize of 750 euros - a financial incentive that should be used exclusively for the organization in which the young talent is active. Anyone who would like to support this award has until Friday, November 15, 2024 to submit suggestions to the mayor's office, Wasserkrüger Weg 16 (Stadthaus). Everyone is entitled to propose a nomination - a unique chance to give a committed young person the recognition he deserves!
Previous award winners in the spotlight
The prize has already honored numerous talented young people. The previous award winners include impressive names such as Bennet Walter, who was awarded in 2021 at the suggestion of the DLRG Mölln, and Rebecca Zühlsdorf, who was honored last year by the Möllner Sports Association and the Marion-Döhnhoff-Gymnasium. In 2022, Johannes Krüger received the honor and Felix Wiede, only 15 years old, was also able to proudly receive the award in 2024.
"It fills me with great joy and pride to show our appreciation to young people. Their commitment is a priceless contribution to our community - and it is an honor for me to be able to recognize this with the youth volunteer award. Their commitment is not a given, but it is essential for our future," emphasizes Katharina Fiedermann, the mayor of Mölln. Jan Ihns, chairman of the community foundation, adds that the prize is not only a valuable motivation, but often also a springboard for greater careers.
