The determination of the employees is noticeable - the employers should clearly feel in the coming days that the patience of the employees is exhausted.

The union demands seven percent more wages and 170 euros more for trainees. The employers, on the other hand, counter with an offer of only 3.6 percent over 27 months, which IG Metall rejects as completely inadequate.

The employer side, represented by Lower Saxony-Metall boss Volker Schmidt, warns: "We have to make ourselves a bone-hard winter half year!" Negotiations could lead to a real showdown.
