Every fifth car with heavy defects: TÜV statistics cause excitement!
The current TÜV report reveals alarming defects in vehicles in Germany: Every fifth car is caught in the main inspection (HU) and has serious defects, as, among other things, t-online.de reported. With over 10.2 million main inspections carried out, around 150,000 vehicles had to be classified as traffic -uncertain - many of which immediately had to go to the workshop. The Tesla Model 3 is particularly striking, which with a defect rate of 14.2 percent forms the bottom of the two to three year old cars and also does poorly in older categories.
In the TÜV statistics from Brühl and Wesseling, there is a slightly positive trend, since more vehicles exist without defects. In Brühl, 63.3 percent of the cars passed the HU without complaint, which represents an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous year, while in Wesseling 54.3 percent without defects, an increase of 7 percent. Nevertheless, it is worrying that almost every fifth car is committed to serious repairs before it receives the new badge. According to TÜV, the average age of the vehicles that have been checked is 12.9 years and the mileage at 127,000.
The best and worst models in the trend

In the other places, the VW Golf Sportsvan followed with 2.5 percent and the Audi Q2 with 2.6 percent. In contrast, models such as the Ford Mondeo and the Skoda Scala continue to drive up the defect rate. While modern models are becoming increasingly reliable, the statistics show that the defect rate rises drastically in older vehicles- for ten to eleven-year cars, this is even 39.6 percent, mostly with cheap brands such as Dacia. For car owners, it is therefore urgently advisable to present their vehicles to the HU in good time in order to avoid possible fines and points in Flensburg, since at the turn of the year the badge color changes from green to orange, which increases pressure to take care of these exams, so
