Bordesholm, Deutschland - A dramatic traffic jam is waiting for drivers on the A7! Since Monday evening, the highway towards Flensburg between Warder and the Bordesholm motorway triangle has been completely closed. The reason for this is urgent work on a dilapidated bridge that is to be replaced by 2025. Autobahn GmbH Nord has announced that auxiliary supports have to be dismantled by the bridge pillars. This full closure lasts until Tuesday morning and will continue again in the evening for the opposite direction to Hamburg from 7 p.m. to Wednesday at 6 a.m.

The bridge that leads from Bordesholm to Dätgen via the A7 is in a critical condition. As early as 2021, considerable damage was determined during an exam. By Wednesday, drivers must also prepare for traffic disruptions during the day, since individual traces are blocked between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to reduce signs. Autobahn GmbH has planned the construction work in such a way that it is mostly taking place at night so as not to disturb rush hour traffic.

There is a clear detour for travelers to the north: departure to the A215 towards Kiel, then back to the A7 via the A210. If you want to go to Nortorf, you should use the Neumünster-Nord junction. The opposite direction is advised to drive from the Rendsburg motorway junction via the A210 to the A215 and then back to the A7. The makeshift bridge over the A7 remains usable for pedestrians, cyclists and cars during the entire construction period, which could defuse the situation.

Autobahn GmbH already installed finished reinforced concrete for the new bridge in August. The old bridge, which has been in operation since 1970, will be replaced by a modern, two -lane bridge without traffic light control by mid -2025. Drivers should prepare for other construction sites and possible traffic jams while the work progresses.
