A7 closure in Hamburg: Massive Stammfahr at the weekend!

This weekend will have to expect drivers in Hamburg with considerable traffic disruptions. Autobahn 7 is completely closed due to urgently required construction work between the Hamburg-Heim-Heimfeld and Hamburg-Stellingen junctions. This measure is part of the large project to expand the Elbmarsch Hochstraße.

The closure comes into force late Friday evening and remains at 5 a.m. until Monday morning. During this period, not only the A7, but also the Elbe tunnel is excluded from the traffic routing. In addition, the Hamburg-Stellingen, Hamburg-Volkspark, Hamburg-Bahrenfeld, Hamburg-Athmarschen, Hamburg-Waltershof and Hamburg-Heimfeld are tight.

reasons for the blocking

The current construction work is used to expand the highway from six to eight lanes. According to Autobahn GmbH, various works are necessary, such as the assembly of traffic sign bridges, asphalting work and adjustments to the software to the traffic calculator in the Elbe tunnel. These measures should not only increase capacity, but also improve traffic safety in the long term.

The diversions are already set to provide the drivers with alternatives and minimize traffic jams. The large diversions are led in particular via the A1 and A21 motorways as well as the federal road B205.

detour measures for traffic

For drivers who are traveling towards Flensburg, there is the opportunity to stay on the A1 from the Buchholzer Dreieck and the Horster Dreieck. There you can use the diversions via the A21 and B205 or, for the trip to the city center of Hamburg, the Elbbrücken and the B4.

For traffic flows with a destination Hamburg city center, it is advisable to follow the descent at the Hamburg-Heimfeld junction of the U7 needs forwarder and to drive via the B73 and B75. For port traffic that come from Hanover, from Hamburg-Heimfeld there is the possibility of reaching the port on the correspondingly marked need for demand. From the port driveway, the route can be selected south via the Waltershof junction.

If you want to travel towards Hanover, you should drive at the Hamburg-Stellingen junction and then use the detour via Kieler Strasse and Eimsbütteler Marktplatz towards Elbbrücken.

The comprehensive construction work and the associated closures are essential in order to make the quality and safety of traffic more sustainable on one of the most important traffic arteries in Germany. Con traffic jam and inconvenience can therefore hardly be avoided in the coming days, but the measures seem necessary to improve the transport infrastructure in Hamburg.
