Zwickau presents a new city archive: a treasure for historical lovers!

Crimmitschauer Straße 1/1a, 08056 Zwickau, Deutschland - An exciting look into the future: Zwickau proudly presents its new city archive at Crimmitschauer Straße 1/1a! On Wednesday, the public was invited to get a first impression of the modern premises. Frank Eiben, the head of the personnel and main office, confirmed that the move of the files from Lessingstraße 1 started last week. A total of impressive 3,000 running meters of files are transferred to the former Sparkassen building!

The new premises are not only spacious, but also perfectly air -conditioned. "16 to 18 degrees and 50 percent humidity are ideal for storing historical documents," said Eiben. In the basement, where the Sparkasse's safes once stood, the valuable files are safely stored. A special cooling room ensures that particularly sensitive archives, such as old photographs and video films, remain in the best condition. The upper floors are reserved for the employees of the city archive and offer office space, a reception and event room as well as a new reading room.

opening in May and exciting offers

The anticipation increases: From May the new Zwickau city archive will be opened to visitors! In addition to the possibility of exploring the historical treasures, exciting courses are also offered, including a course for "ancestral research". A place that is not only for historical lovers, but for all curious highlights!
