Volunteering in the Vogtland: two role models for humanity and commitment

In the Royal Kurhaus in Bad Elster, the glamorous volunteer gala of the Vogtlandkreis took place, in which district administrator Thomas Hennig awarded 21 outstanding volunteers. Two personalities are particularly emphasized among the honored: Katharina Kempt and Hannes Reinhold, whose impressive commitment impressively illustrates the diversity of the volunteer in Vogtland.

Katharina Kempt, 71 years old and from Neustadt, is a real model for charity. After her career as a kindergarten teacher in 2015, she did not want to retire. "For me, help for people is a matter of heart. If you give, you get so much gratitude back," she explains. Active in various organizations, including the Tafel Falkenstein and the AWO Auerbach, she is primarily devoted to a volunteer hospice helper. It accompanies seriously ill people on their last way and offers support in crisis situations. Her "funeral café" in Treuen is a place of consolation for mourners, where she brings her empathy and compassion: "When I am called, I am there for people in need day and night."

young talent and historical passion

District Administrator Thomas Hennig emphasizes how important Hannes' commitment to the tourist development of the Göltzschtalbrücke, which he wants to make a highlight of the region. In a survey among the Vogtländer, many wanted the bridge to be advertised more. "That's why I want to develop the area around the world's largest bridge bridge," emphasizes Hennig.
