Ferries over the Elbe: Bad Schandau introduces zero tariff for commuters!

Bad Schandau, Deutschland - Great news for all commuters in Bad Schandau! From today it says: driving without a ticket! The district office of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Mountains and regional traffic have decided that the ferry crossings across the Elbe are free. No more ticket necessary - just get in and drive off!

The ferries are not only a practical connection between the Bad Schandau train station and the old town, but also an important transport option for students. You are the only way to cross the Elbe in the region next to the regional train to Doulni Poustevna. "From 9 a.m. we introduce the zero tariff at the Bad Schandau ferries and hope so that the commuters can help a little," explains district administrator Michael Geisler. The costs are initially covered by the district and later charged with the Germany ticket or the Free State.

bridge closed - quick solution for commuters

The decision is no coincidence! Mayor Thomas Kunack had received numerous inquiries from citizens last week. Now there is an unbureaucratic and quick solution for the commuters. But the blocked bridge remains a problem. Material samples are taken there to check the condition of the steel bands inside. The free ferry ride is a bright spot, but it cannot fully compensate for the bridge closure.
