Sprotta on the move: Home club fights against garbage and parking problems!
Eilenburg. The Heimatverein Sprotta, which has been active for five years, has made remarkable progress during this time. "During this time our club moved a lot," explains the chairman André Richter. The highlights include the design of the Sprotta Bay, which was recently celebrated with a colorful kite festival. But the joy of the leisure area is overshadowed by problems.
The Sprottaer fought hard for their bay and abandoned areas on the sports field for residential construction. Despite the lack of toilets and official bathing spots, the bay was so popular that the municipality restricted parking in the area in 2020. Drivers are only allowed to park in the Sprotta local area, but that did not defuse the situation. In summer, Eilenburger Landstrasse is regularly parked by uninvited guests who also leave a lot of garbage.
Problems with wild parking and garbage
For 2025 Sprotta and the home club are facing two major challenges. The new mayor Holger Schmidt (SPD) and the association have different views of the solutions. A hedge planting could make the wild parking difficult, while a compromise for waste disposal in the air is hovers: the association could be responsible for emptying the trash cans, the municipality for disposal.
However, the club not only has an eye on the bay. At the newly created orchard at the end of Doberschütz, 14 trees and shrubs were planted, which are now supplied with irrigation bags and a water pump. In addition, the association planted 18 apple, plum and pear trees, for which a five-year growth guarantee was taken over. Thanks to a funding of 10,000 euros, the scales in Sprotta will also be renovated to further increase the attractiveness of the place.
