Halloween trips crown season at the Kriebstein dam!

Kreiebstein. The season 2024 at the Kriebstein dam ended with an exciting Halloween Event on October 31 and Sweets enthusiastically for the children. Sylvia Reiss, the managing director of the Kriebsteintalsperre purpose association, was satisfied with the implementation of all planned events this year. But the numbers speak a different language: the number of visitors fell dramatically from 40,600 in the previous year to only 37,000.

The reasons for this decline are diverse. Construction sites on the Kriebsteiner Burgberg led to detours and confusing signage that deterred potential guests. In addition, new attractions such as Karl's adventure village attracted many visitors to Döbeln rather than in the picturesque Kriebstein. Despite these challenges, tear remains optimistic and emphasizes the unique beauty of the region that cannot be compared to the Leipzig lakes.

Future plans for more comfort

In order to increase the attractiveness, the dam is invested vigorously: the seating capacity is increased from 850 to 999, and a new multi-purpose building is being built to offer guests more comfort. While the construction work should be completed by the end of 2025, there will continue to be entertainment during the season. The dam remains a popular destination for the more mature audience who is interested in coffee and charter trips as well as theater performances. This year, 33 performances of the "White Rössl" experienced the audience on the lake stage.

In order to maintain interest in the dam, the special -purpose association will be represented at travel measurements in Chemnitz and Zwickau from January. While the ships are prepared for the winter, the fleet remains well positioned with the motor ships "Kreiebstein" and "Hainichen" as well as the ferries "Lauenhain" and "Höfchen". The Kriebsteinsee also offers numerous options for camper, with parking spaces in the area that promise a relaxed break in nature.
