Leipzig. Span> On the heavily frequented bike route of the Leipzig Südmagistral, especially at the "Münzgasse/LVZ" stop Again to get into dangerous situations between cyclists and passengers of local public transport. Around 7,000 cyclists use this route every day, and according to an examination of the mobility and civil engineering office, for example, one in ten cyclists ignores the safety of the waiting people by entering the stop area while passengers get on and out.
In order to defuse these dangerous conflicts, the city administration has decided to re -mark the stop area. From November 11th, a stop postogram on the wheel lane and a striking traffic sign with the yellow -green H will be attached to reminding cyclists of your waiting obligation. These measures are intended to ensure that the safety of passengers, especially seniors and people with disabilities, is guaranteed.
pilot project could be expanded in other places
The city will observe in the following weeks whether the new markings will actually lead to an improvement in the situation. In the event of a positive result, similar measures are planned at other stops in Leipzig. The cycling officer Christoph Waack emphasizes that accidents are rare, but particularly endangered groups such as seniors and people with disabilities should have priority when getting in and out. This new marking is to ensure that all cyclists respect the safety needs of passengers.
