Defeat for HEV: Leipzig defeats Miners in the ice hockey duel!

Herne, Deutschland - The Herner Ice Sports Association (HEV) suffered another defeat on Friday, October 11, 2024. In the home game against the KSW Icefighter Leipzig, the team had to give up 0-2. This was a painful setback for the team under the direction of Dirk Schmitz, which has only hit the game three times in the last four games. The lack of the necessary offensive power was particularly striking, since hardly any goals could be scored in 245 minutes, including overtime.

The injury -related failures of players such as Justus Meyl and Hugo Enock and the sick Erik Keresztury provided additional challenges for the miners. Nevertheless, with Jesper Müllejans and Bennet Otten, who were borrowed from Krefeld, they were able to fall back on some additional players.

The game development and defensive strength

The first section was very unfavorable for the hosts. The Icefighters dominated the game and could easily have been in the lead with 0: 4 unless the shiny Finn Becker had been in the HEV goal. Becker kept his team in the game for a long time, even though he was powerless against the first goal of the guests. Tom Pauker scored the 0-1 when the Herner defense was not well organized.

In the second third, the HEV managed to improve something, but the clear chances remained with the Leipzigers. Becker remained attentive and was able to ward off several dangerous attacks, which gave the HEV some confidence. The defensive of the HEV fought bravely, but the pressure from Leipzig was constantly noticeable.

the last section and the decisive goal

In the last third, the HEV showed more efforts and earned several attacks on the goal. Despite the intensive attempts to turn the game, it was Konstantin Kessler, the IceFighters' goalkeeper, who was able to call up his performance and kept all attempts from the miners. In the final phase of the game, when Dirk Schmitz took off his goalkeeper for an additional field player, a puck loss led to an Empty-Net goal by Emil Aronsson, which increased the final result to 0: 2

After the game, Leipzig's coach Patrick Wener said delighted the away win and the three points won. He emphasized that the team had given numerous opportunities in the first third. Dirk Schmitz, on the other hand, was aware that the team was lucky that the game was not decided prematurely. "After the first third, we shouldn't have complained if we had already moved back significantly," he said.

The next challenge for the HEV is on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Then compete with the Tecart Black Dragons Erfurt. The bully in the Thuringian state capital is scheduled for 4 p.m.
