Leipzig celebrates brilliant premiere: Romeo and Julia newly staged!

The Leipzig Ballet caused excitement with its new staging of "Romeo and Julia"! On Saturday evening, under the direction of conductor Anna Skryleva and the choreography of Lauren Lovette, the play was celebrated with an enthusiastic reception. The premiere was not only the first under Rémy Fichet, the new division manager, but also a glamorous comeback in the world of the neoclassical dance.

skryleva, known for her disciplined and elegant conducting, presented the masterpiece of Sergei Prokofiev, which was premiered in Brno. The musical performance of the Gewandhaus Orchestra was an unmatched top class, which perfectly staged the power of Prokofiev's angular mass scenes. The audience was carried away by the intensive change between lyrical and dramatic passages and rewarded the performance with frenetic applause.

sensational actor and fresh concept

Production was characterized by an innovative approach: Lovette converted the figure of the Rosalinde into Julia's familiar to give the story of the story characterized by Shakespeare's tragedy. The ballet evening played in the interior of a theater and offered a refreshing view of the classic story, while the costumes presented an exquisite color palette in white, strawberry and cognac. The actors radiated technical sovereignty and gave the audience the opportunity to put themselves in the history of the young lovers.

In the middle of the tragic events in particular, Soojeong Choi, as a modern Julia, brought a feeling of self -determination and grace. The most emotional moments of the evening emerged when Choi and Andrea Carino had the stage for themselves - on the first contact, the wedding night and the devastating double self -murder. The audience was enchanted by the breathtaking choreography and the rousing music of the Gewandhaus Orchestra. This staging of the Leipzig Opera was not only a tribute to the great narrative art of Shakespeare, but also a sparkle -spraying prelude to the new era under fichet.
