Erzgebirge: trainees choose their voice! Choose Junior Works Council now!

In the Erzgebirge district, trainees and young employees have the opportunity to choose their youth and trainees representatives (JAV) by the end of November. This elected representation has the task of representing the interests of young employees in the companies and establishing a central connection to the management. The industrial union Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt (IG Bau) encourages the youth to actively participate in the elections and give their vote.

"The JAV is an important mouthpiece for young people at work," emphasizes Andreas Herrmann, the chairman of IG Bau Southwest Saxony. He emphasizes that it is of great importance for trainees and young employees to make their hearing and to represent their concerns. The elections offer a platform to ensure that the votes of the youth are heard in the company. This is particularly important because the young employees often have a different look at everyday work.

election entitlement and participation

The JAV can bring numerous topics from the perspective of young employees to the company management, be it to address better training conditions, technical equipment or individual concerns such as unpaid overtime. This representation is a valuable resource to bundle and take up the diverse interests of its members, explains Claudia Praetorius, member of the IG Bau youth organization. It underlines the responsibility of the JAV to actively participate in the design of a positive working environment.

The meaning of JAV

The importance of the JAV is also evident through its role as an innovative source for improvements in the companies. Young employees bring fresh ideas that promote new approaches and lead to optimizing work processes. The JAV has the task of collecting these ideas and presenting them to corporate management. In this way, central concerns such as improved support for trainees or support when learning can be brought into focus.
