In a shocking incident, the body of a newborn was discovered in a waste recycling system in Freital, Saxony. According to reports from BILD and MDR, the tragic find was already made on Friday, February 7, 2025, around 3:15 p.m. The police assume a homicide after the infant apparently stored in a waste container in the area and then transported to the disposal site with a garbage trolley. Police spokesman Thomas Geithner confirmed that the investigation is taken extremely seriously and that the child's parents are searched for.

The Dresden public prosecutor has already been involved in the investigation. After the post of the baby's autopsy, the results of which were published on Monday, the first evidence appeared that indicate a possible homicide. Investigators are specifically looking for indications of a woman who has been pregnant in the past few months and possibly released without medical care in February 2025.
