Corona numbers rise in Saxony: 13 dead and 1,247 new infections!

Dresden. Alarming messages from Saxony! The number of corona infections increases rapidly again. According to the state examination facility in Chemnitz, acute respiratory diseases are at a worrying level. In the week from November 4th to 11th, 1,247 new Covid 19 cases were reported, with most infections in Leipzig and Dresden. The dominance of Sars-Cov-2 is unmistakable!

The Situation is serious: In the 45th calendar week, 13 people died or with Corona, which increases the total number of Corona deaths to 46 since the beginning of the season. The situation in the Bautzen district is particularly tragic, where ten deaths can be complained alone. In Chemnitz and in the Vogtlandkreis, the numbers are alarming with six dead. The most affected groups are older adults and seniors, with half of the deceased over 83 years old.

While the number of influenza show a slight decline, the number of RSV infections remains at a high level. One to four year old children and adults between 45 and 64 are particularly affected, with most new cases in Dresden and Leipzig. Nationwide, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) appreciates around 6 million people with acute respiratory diseases for the week of October 28th, with the values in adults decreasing slightly while increasing in children.

However, the number of unreported cases of the diseases could be significantly higher, since throat smears are only taken for analysis in selected doctor's practices. These practices provide important data for the weekly reports of the RKI, but the actual situation could be more far -reaching than the official figures suggest.
