On October 17, 2024, the main customs office in Dresden carried out extensive control against undeclared work. This exam was not only locally, but part of a large-scale, cross-border initiative of the European Labor Authority (ELA), in which a total of 21 EU member states were involved. The focus in Germany was particularly on the detection of cross -border undeclared undeclared work and compliance with the minimum wage regulations.
As part of this measure, 104 officials from the Dresden main customs office were active. They surveyed over 250 people and checked more than 60 different locations in and around Leipzig, Dresden, Oschatz, Döbeln, Bautzen and Zittau. Due to these checks, a total of 26 suspicions of violations of social security and residence regulations were determined.
test methods and subsequent investigations
The exams carried out are only the beginning. Following the controls, extensive subsequent investigations and analyzes are carried out. This includes the evaluation of the data collected by entering sheets, comparison of wage and financial accounting as well as the exact review of the business documents of the companies concerned.
This procedure is a crucial step to ensure that work standards, in particular the minimum wage regulations, are observed. The statutory minimum wage in Germany has been continuously raised since its introduction on January 1, 2015 and has been 12.41 euros gross per hour since January 1, 2024. Originally, this was 8.50 euros gross per hour, which shows how the financial support for workers has developed over time.
The main customs office not only pursues the combat of undeclared work, but also aims to promote the fairness and legality of the employment relationships in the region. The situational exams are part of a long -term strategy that aims to identify illegal employment relationships and prevent them in the future
These developments are particularly important in an economic environment in which the pressure on companies grows to improve working conditions and comply with legal requirements. The work controls of financial control undeclared work are a necessary measure to maintain the integrity of the labor market and to protect the rights of employees.
