New Tempo 30 zone in Bautzen: Security for pedestrians and residents!

Bautzen relies on reduced speeds: new Tempo 30 zones!

Bautzen has taken a crucial step to calm traffic! The city administration has now officially introduced the new Tempo 30 zones on Breitscheidstrasse as well as on Talstrasse and Behringstrasse. This project, which was decided in 2018, aims to reduce the inner -city traffic flows and to offer residents more security. On this occasion, the right of way regulation at the newly designed intersection has also changed - now "right before left"!

With these speed limits, not only throughout traffic in less frequently used areas is minimized, but also the protection of pedestrians and cyclists is the top priority. The city administration explains that such measures are particularly appropriate where the traffic density is low. In addition, this reduces the noise pollution in the affected areas, which in particular benefits the residents.

Tempo 30 zones at a glance

A total of twelve different zones have been implemented in the city since the city council decision of 2018. These extend across the city center, the southern, west and eastern town to the north east ring as well as to Oberkaina and Stiebitz. In addition, Tempo 30 zones were introduced on Jägerstraße and Paulistraße and an adaptation of the speed restriction on Dieselstrasse in the West suburb. Now the residential areas at the Carolagarten and in Oberkaina also benefit from these measures.
