In Neschwitz near Bautzen, a significant piece of history has once again accepted its shape. After an intensive construction period of four years, the reconstructed executive house, which is over 300 years old, was handed over to the community. This historic building was originally a few kilometers away in Lisa Hora.

This impressive building, which was once the 18th century's home, was rebuilt by the Neschwitz Cultural and Home Association. More than 300 working hours were invested in the shop buildings, with trainees from the Löbau vocational school center also actively participating. They supported in the construction of a traditional clay-straw mixture in the construction of the half-timbered house, which makes this process particularly sustainable.

dark story

The return of the executioner house awakens memories of the dark past. According to legend, the executioner living there was responsible for examinations on behalf of August. This cultural depth of the inheritance has made the project particularly important, which is why around 50,000 euros in funding for reconstruction were made available.

The path of the executioner house was unusual. Originally native to Lisshaora, the entire building was demolished four years ago in order to be rebuilt in Luga, a place eight kilometers away, next to a historic Bockwindmühle. In front of it, the building stopped in a special workshop in Thalheim, Erzgebirge, where the old substance was thoroughly renewed.

On Sunday, the executioner house opened its doors to interested visitors who were able to take a look at the successful reconstruction.

For the municipality of Neschwitz, this newly designed space is not only a return to the tradition, but also a way to take up the story and make them tangible. The citizens hope for a new cultural center that stands for the stories and the traditions of this region.
