Fire brigade legend Heinz Ebersbach: 90 years full of heroism and history!

Bautzen, Deutschland - Heinz Ebersbach, who was 90 years old in Bautzen, has had an impressive career that began in 1949 when he joined the youth fire brigade in Grubschütz. Three years later, he was employed by the Bautzen fire brigade and worked there for around 30 years in various missions, including fire fighting in stables and apartments. His time in the Schlungwitz explosive plant is particularly worth mentioning, where he completed 24-hour layers.

Ebersbach had a memorable experience in 1956 when he took a pregnant woman to the hospital during a mission and was born the child in the fire truck. In retrospect, he emphasizes the importance of cohesion, self -discipline and responsibility within the fire brigade. In the course of his career, he experienced dangerous missions, including a fire outbreak in a very smoky building, and suffered a burn on the face. Ebersbach was often confronted with extreme situations, which remembered deeply, including the sight of deceased people and burned animals.

After his career as an engineer for fire protection, Ebersbach retired. He began to deal intensively with the history of his family and the Grubschütz's birthplace. During his research in archives, he discovered that the Bautzen volunteer fire brigade was one of the oldest in Germany and was founded in 1780. Ebersbach also wrote several volumes about the fire extinguishing in Bautzen and put together an illustrated book. In December 2024 he handed over his chronicle to Mayor Karsten Vogt (CDU).

On November 15, 2023, a meeting of the age and honor department took place in the new tool shed of the Klix volunteer fire brigade, in which Ebersbach was also present. On this occasion, he presented his chronicle of the fire brigade of the city of Bautzen, which has over 240 years of tradition. 48 members of the aging and honorary department took part in the meeting, including Mayor Hardy Glausch and the deputy district fire chief Sandro Stübner, both of whom informed about the situation of the fire brigade in the community. The Klixer comrades took care of the physical well -being with coffee and cake, and there was the opportunity to visit the premises and the technology of the fire brigade, as well as to have individual discussions.
