Wernigerode, Deutschland - alarm level red for the Harz narrow -gauge railways! In view of the exploding costs, the state of Saxony-Anhalt now exudes a light of hope and donates fresh money. A total of 15 million euros will be made available in 2024 so that traditional operations do not stumble!

Stop! This financial injection does not come without conditions! As the Ministry of Infrastructure reports, an additional 4.4 million euros will be promised in the coming year and around 3.7 million euros for 2025. "We want to give the company the necessary scope in challenging times," said State Secretary Sven Haller urgently after a meeting in Wernigerode. Strategic thinking is required - the company has to set up in a future -proof manner in order to get the high costs of energy and personnel under control!

The Harz narrow-gauge railways, founded in November 1991 by 20 municipal shareholders in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Lower Saxony, have an eventful history. They have taken over the Brockenbahn classics since 1993 and never faced major challenges. It is to be hoped that the incisions are not fatal!
