Flowering meadows in the Hohenrode villa park: biodiversity through mowing work!

In the picturesque Hohenrode Villaspark, a special event recently took place that attracted nature lovers. The 199th species protection, organized by Bodo Schwarzberg and his committed team, focused on the care of species -rich meadows. These meadows are not only habitat for rare plant species, but also for a variety of insects that are essential for biodiversity.

The team of eight active species protectionists found in their work that less often is more. Through targeted mowing, which only takes place twice this year, they will promote a species -rich meadow that attracts more flowers, butterflies and wild bees. This knowledge is clearly shown in nature: While frequent mowing arms leaves bishops, a lesser intervention ensures that the meadows become flowering oases.

Efficient care of the meadows

In the context of the use of species protection, not only the meadow is maintained, but also specifically paid attention to the needs of plants and animals. In close cooperation with the park's support association, it is ensured that the areas will only be mowed once in autumn or a maximum of twice a year in the future. This practical approach helps to store water in the earth and ensures that the meadows thrive better even in drought. In addition to the flora, the fauna also benefits from these measures: wild bees and butterflies find their food sources there and contribute to pollination.

The formative role of Lothar Burkart from the Förderverein, which was supported by a powerful graduate, and the commitment of everyone involved, are essential for the success of these missions. Last Saturday was particularly exciting because the use for the orchard was the second this year. Active care was completed with a well -deserved barbecue celebration under the old park trees, in which the helpers were rewarded with delicious steaks and original Thuringian sausages.

The habitats that are created in the villa park not only attract pedagogy and interest in nature, but are also important for walkers. The colorful meadows and the flourishing wildlife offer a nice experience, especially in spring when the flowers bloom and insects collect nectar.

In view of the coming months, new missions are already planned. These are expected to take place at the end of June and the end of September. Bodo Schwarzberg and his team are happy when new colleagues support the work. Interested parties can contact bodo_schwarzberg@yahoo.de to actively participate in the preservation of these valuable biodiversity. With each post, a piece of nature is protected and promoted, which not only makes every use valuable, but also significant.

The Initiative impressively shows how common commitment in nature not only creates a beautiful park, but also raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity. Cooperation between the volunteers and the support associations reflects the potential that is in common action and nature care, and offers the surroundings a piece of quality of life that should not be underestimated.
