in Haldensleben, Börde district, archaeologists have made a sensational discovery! A previously unknown medieval settlement came to light underground, which may already exist in the 9th or 10th century under the name "Niendorf". A large mine house is particularly revealing, in which traces of looms and numerous web weights were found. This impressively proves that textile production has played an important role here!

The excavations not only reveal the pit house, but also elaborately constructed rock memory stoves that enabled the smoke -free heating of the living rooms. Further remarkable discoveries are wells with advanced water cleaning systems and various household appliances. There are knives under the utensils found, an artistically decorated bone comb and impressive balls of balls made of ceramic.
