Cycling and sidewalk expansion in Aßweiler: Safety for pedestrians and cyclists!
Aßweiler, Deutschland - Aßweiler faces a big change! On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the Landesbetrieb for Road Construction (LFS) begins with the extensive expansion of the cycling and sidewalk in the passage through. The B 423, also known as the "Saar-Pfalz-Straße", is expanded to a width of 2.50 meters in order to drastically increase safety for cyclists and pedestrians. A step that not only improves the infrastructure, but also influences the everyday life of the residents!
extensive construction work in three stages
The construction work extends over a distance of around 650 meters, specifically between the confluence "in the Easter gardens" and "Heidehof". In three consecutive construction phases, which last one week, the path is not only widened, but also tied to the B 423. During this time, the roadway is blocked on one side, which means that drivers have to adjust to a three-way traffic light that regulates the traffic and ensures access to the surrounding businesses.
completion by December 10th in sight
When the weather is played and everything goes according to plan, the construction work should be completed by December 10, 2024. However, the LFS warns of possible slight traffic disorders during the construction phase. Road users are asked to consider the current traffic reports and, if necessary, plan more time for their trips. An important project that will change mobility in Aßweiler!
