Construction update in St. Ingbert: 40 million for schools and innovative solutions!

In a current interview series with the mayors of the Saarland, Mayor Ulli Meyer emphasized some major construction projects from the city of St. Ingbert. These include the comprehensive renovation of the Ludwig School and the new buildings for the all-day schools (FGTS) at the Albert-Weischerber School and the South School. These conversations offer an interesting insight into the urban planning and use of budget funds.

If you wanted to learn more about the status of these large construction projects, you recently had the opportunity to learn more at the meeting of the building committee. This meeting gave a remarkable overview of the financial expenses. A total of around 40 million euros will be invested in these projects. One of the highlighted features is the relatively low construction costs compared to the originally scheduled budget approaches: 400,000 euros for the Südschule, 340,000 euros for the Albert-Weischerber School and 280,000 euros for the Ludwig School.

construction and expert knowledge

Above all, the idea of the construction plans for the Ludwig School, which were dealt with in the committee, caught the eye. It was remarkable that seven men and a woman were present for the presentation. This large number of experts are necessary to comprehensively explain the complex aspects of contaminated sites, fire protection and supply technology. The great use of qualified planners is apparently a decisive component for the success of these extensive projects, which are significantly below the budget specifications and are on course.

Another exciting project is the FGTS at the South School, the topping -out ceremony of which will be celebrated in the coming week. The innovative hybrid construction, in which concrete and wood are combined, has proven to be particularly effective and significantly accelerates the construction progress. The massive basement could be completed within just five months, while for the upper floor with wooden walls only two and a half weeks were needed. This construction not only has practical advantages, but also plays an important role in the area of population protection.

function of schools in disaster protection

All three new FGTS locations are equipped with an emergency generator that enables them to act as a vital supply base in the event of disasters. This underlines the multidimensional function that modern schools take nowadays, since they should not only offer educational institutions, but also support in crisis situations.

With these significant investments and well -thought -out building approaches, St. Ingbert shows how school building and the protection of the population can be linked. These projects illustrate the important role of the city administration in the planning and implementation of infrastructures that meet both pedagogical needs and the security of the citizens.
