160 million euros for Saarbrücken clinics: a new health campus is created!
A huge investment step for the Saarbrücken hospitals: The country plans to pump a whopping 160 million euros into the clinics on the Winterberg and Rastpfuhl! This groundbreaking decision was sealed in a declaration of intent between Health Minister Magnus Jung (SPD) and the clinics. Time is urging, because many hospitals struggle with red numbers and urgently need support.
The financial means should be used specifically for large construction projects. The expansion of the Winterberg to the health campus is funded with 85 million euros, while the move of the Caritas Clinic from Dudweiler to the Rastpfuhl is supported with around 75 million euros. The state government expects construction costs of 120 million euros per location, which underlines the urgency of these measures.
Cooperation as a key
But that's not all! Part of the agreement is an increased cooperation between the clinics. The mergers of stations, as they are also considered in the nationwide hospital reform, are planned. Departments such as orthopedics and psychosomatic medicine are shifted to the Rastpfuhl, while vascular surgery and urology move to the Winterberg. Emergency medicine remains at both locations, which is of crucial importance for the patients.
The those responsible for the hospitals are relieved by this development. Alexander Funk, Managing Director of the CTS, and Christian Braun, medical director of the Winterberg, emphasize that the new planning security is extremely important, even if the exact amount of the financial grant is only established after the construction costs have been determined. A ray of hope for health care in Saarland!
