Cattle tuberculosis: Vorarlberg takes action against endangered animal husbandry!

In Vorarlberg there was alarming messages regarding beef tuberculosis. After a person was positively tested for the disease in January, a second person has now become infected. Although both those affected are not ill-tuberculosis, as the state of Vorarlberg confirmed, the risk of infection with the TBC pathogens remains. Tuberculosis can be treated, but the current situation for the affected companies is extremely worrying. There are a total of ten farms under quarantine, such as ORF Radio Vorarlberg

At a large farm in the Bregenzerwald, all 107 cattle had to be killed due to an infection. This drastic measure was taken after abnormalities were found in slaughter in Germany. In the past few weeks, the disease has spread primarily in farm animals. According to Swiss farmer is extended to up to four months, which makes the situation even more difficult for farmers. The country confirms that the beef is rare to transfer the disease to humans today, but the TBC remains a serious threat to agriculture.

medical and economic consequences

The Verarlberg veterinary authority raises the alarm and demands measures to combat TBC in agriculture, since the disease of wild animals, especially red deer, can be transferred to farm animals. Especially on alpine pastures, where farm animals and wild animals mix, infections can spread. The loss of cattle is not only medically relevant, but also causes great financial losses for farmers. The federal government offers compensation payments, which, however, do not cover the entire value of the animals and lead to an enormous emotional and economic loss for many farmers.
