New insights into Worm's Jewish history: Lectures in the Raschi-Haus!

In the Worms World Heritage Site, there will be exciting insights into Jewish history in the coming weeks. The Raschi-Haus, which acts as an interface between a Jewish museum, the city archive and the lower monument protection authority, will offer two lectures that deal with significant aspects of the city's Jewish identity.

On October 24th at 6 p.m. Dr. Heribert Feldhaus together with Dr. Gerold Bönnen give a lecture. Under the title "A 'second' Wormser Mike: facts, questions and considerations about a find 1930/31", they deal with the sources and the results of construction research. These indicate a previously unknown ritual bath, which is hidden in the Jewish district, especially in the rear Judengasse.

research and review of the past

The second event will also take place on November 7th at 6 p.m. Hartmut Ritzheimer will speak about the "Aryanization of the private clinic Dr. Grief, later Ev. Hospital Hochstift Worms". In his lecture, he addressed the history of this former Jewish clinic and the fate of the doctors and their families, which were forced to emigration after 1933. These forms of memory and processing are crucial to understand the history and influences of these institutions in the context of the National Socialist past.

Both lectures are not only of interest to historians, but invite all citizens to deal with important topics of the past. Admission to the lectures is free and prior registration is not necessary. Questions and discussions about the lectures are expressly desired, which promises a lively exchange.

In addition, the findings from these events will be published in an upcoming issue of the magazine 'Der Wormsgau', which appears printed at the end of the year. This publication, created in a cooperation between the Worms Antiquity Association and the City Archives, will offer the citizens permanent access to the new knowledge about the Jewish history of the city.

These lectures are not only an opportunity to learn more about local history, but also a step towards a deeper understanding and a valuable discussion about the Jewish heritage in Worms. The events take place in the Raschi-Haus in Hinteren Judengasse 6. In order to learn more about the program and the topics, at www.worms.de .
