Promote reading promotion across borders: Cooperate City Library and Realschule Plus Eich!
The Worms city library and the Realschule Plus Eich set a strong sign for reading promotion! Despite a distance of almost 20 kilometers, they have launched an exciting partnership that focuses on the students. With the signing of the cooperation agreement "Bildungspartner Library and School", the cooperation is officially sealed. This initiative, which was launched by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Library Center, aims to create a permanent connection between libraries and schools.
The fifth and sixth classes are the focus of this partnership. "Creating reading motivation and spreading reading is" the big goal! Cordula Schönung, the head of the city library, emphasizes the importance of such cooperation: "Unfortunately, it is often forgotten that we also have an educational mandate. This partnership emphasizes us as a 'educational partner' and enables us to bring our offer directly to schools."A look behind the scenes
The Realschule Plus Eich is particularly looking forward to the new possibilities: "Reading is a basic competence. We have to constantly create incentives that inspire our children and young people to read," explains headmistress Kirsten Rauschkolb. The city library offers a varied program that is a clear asset for the students. In order to get to know the offer better, four students from the Realschule received an exclusive tour of the children's and youth library, led by Wenke Zeibe.
The municipal cooperation is also welcomed by Timo Horst, the deputy director of the city of Worms, and Maximilian Abstein, the mayor of the community of Eich. Abstein emphasizes: "An infrastructure for reading and learning is created here from which both sides can benefit. Our Realschule Plus is the first school outside of Worms that this educational partnership goes, which shows that we have to think about reading promotion." Horst adds: "Reading is not only the basis for learning, but also opens up the possibilities of networked thinking, which is of great importance in our international society."
Responsibility for the cooperation lies with Melissa Schlösser from the Realschule and Wenke Zeibe from the city library. A promising step into the future of reading promotion!
