Art against forgetting: Dettmar's synagogue exhibition in the KSI

An impressive art project is reminiscent of the dark past in Germany! Alexander Dettmar brings the destroyed synagogues back into memory - not through the reconstruction, but through his fascinating oil paintings. These works are more than just art; They are an emotional memorial for the more than 1400 synagogues, which were put in rubble and ash during the gruesome November pogroms from 1938 by the National Socialists.

The exhibition is entitled "Synagogues that tell and remember" and will open on Sunday, November 3, in the Cloay of the Catholic Social Institute (KSI) on the Michaelsberg. The vernissage begins at 4 p.m., in which visitors can immerse themselves in the moving world of memories. Dettmar's paintings are not only a tribute to the lost buildings, but also a powerful testimony of the suffering of the Jewish people in the Third Reich.

an artist with a mission

Dettmar has made it a life work to tell the stories of these synagogues through his art. Each picture is a window in the past and invites the viewers to think about the horrors of history. This exhibition is an important step to keep memory of Jewish culture and what was lost. A visit is not only a cultural enrichment, but also an important contribution to the culture of remembrance.
