Trier craftsmanship defies the crisis: optimism despite decline!

Trier, Deutschland - trier. In the middle of the economic crisis, the regional craft businesses show strength! The latest autumn economic survey by the Trier Chamber of Crafts reveals that 84.4 percent of the entrepreneurs surveyed are satisfied with the current business situation-even if this is a decrease of around 7 percent compared to the previous year. The areas of health industry, personal services and commercial handicrafts are particularly optimistic, while the main building industry and the motor vehicle industry come up with somewhat weaker ratings. But here the trust with approval rates of 75 to 83 percent remains surprisingly high!

A look into the future is illuminating: over two thirds of the companies - which thus provide the majority - expect a stable business situation, and almost 8 percent even expect an upswing. Led by the vehicle trade and commercial crafts, these positive perspectives show that more than eight out of ten respondents expect. Optimism remains even present even in the expansion, food and health professions, with around 60 percent looking ahead of a constant or improved business situation.

A sobering number: 71.5 percent of the craftsmen surveyed report a capacity utilization of over 70 percent - a decline compared to 2023, when it was 84.9 percent. Nevertheless, the order situation across all industries remains strong, with more than 10 weeks of orders on average. But the investment rate has fallen - only a little over 40 percent of the companies invested, compared to over half of the previous year. However, the average investments increase to almost 50,000 euros!

The number of personnel remain stable at 63.8 percent of the companies, but only 3 percent are planning new hires. The price situation calmed down, with 41.5 percent reporting price increases - in the previous year it was almost half. Amazingly, the craft defies all these adversities: Despite difficult circumstances, the regional craft is resistant in Trier. "We have successfully adapted the challenges," explains Matthias Schwalbach, managing director of the HWK, and summarizes: The craft remains a ray of hope in times of crisis!
