In the small municipality of Oberemmel in the district of Trier-Saarburg, a new “green classroom” was recently opened, which leads young learners away from the classic teaching methods and towards a practical and natural approach. With a pleasant 20-minute footpath from primary school, the students of classes 1 to 4 can immerse themselves in this forest area, which should serve as a living place of learning. Ten -year -old Marie and her classmate Jonas also enjoy learning something about domestic flora and fauna while they have enough space to play and romp.

The local mayor of Wiltingen, Reinhard Orth, emphasizes the advantages that this project brings with it for the village community. He remembers how important it was for him to play in the forest as a child and sees the provision of this area a way to strengthen the bond between the children, the village and nature.
