In the small municipality of Oberemmel in the district of Trier-Saarburg, a new “green classroom” was recently opened, which leads young learners away from the classic teaching methods and towards a practical and natural approach. With a pleasant 20-minute footpath from primary school, the students of classes 1 to 4 can immerse themselves in this forest area, which should serve as a living place of learning. The idea behind the "Green Classroom" was launched by the community and the Saarburg forestry office. The enthusiasm for the new forest project is noticeable in schools and children. Students like the nine -year -old Marius appreciate the opportunity to explore the forest for expertise projects and actively deal with nature. Ten -year -old Marie and her classmate Jonas also enjoy learning something about domestic flora and fauna while they have enough space to play and romp.

The local mayor of Wiltingen, Reinhard Orth, emphasizes the advantages that this project brings with it for the village community. He remembers how important it was for him to play in the forest as a child and sees the provision of this area a way to strengthen the bond between the children, the village and nature. The project not only creates educational opportunities, but also promotes the sense of community among the young residents of the region.
