Speyer Judo women crown masters in Wiesbaden for the third time!

The JSV Speyer women's team defended their title as German champion in an impressive manner. At the final round of the Judo Bundesliga, which took place in Wiesbaden, the team under the direction of Nadine Lautenschläger triumphed with a surprisingly clear 10: 4 against the defending champion TSG Backnang. Speyer had already won the same result in the semifinals without difficulty against Hertha Walheim.

The city of Wiesbaden seems to be a place of luck for the judokas from Speyer, because the championship title was won here in 2015 and 2019, each against Backnang. Another meeting of the two teams was expected for the final round and it quickly became clear that the two rivals would face each other again. Already in the semi -finals Speyer and Backnang clearly took the lead and made it clear the final.

superior performance in the final

The day of the final started promising for JSV Speyer. Marlene Galandi, who worked into the weight class over 78 kilograms, fought an exciting fight against the Olympic participant Renee Lucht. After almost seven minutes of fighting, she was able to get the first crucial point for Speyer. "A perfect start - this gave a jerk through the team again," said Nadine Lautenschläger, underlining the central role of this victory for the overall course of the encounter.

With this tailwind, further clear victories followed. Hilde Jager, Mascha Ballhaus and Geke van den Berg won their fights prematurely. Although Teresa Zenker had to give up a point, the team dominated and led 6-1 at half -time. This was practically the preliminary decision and the planned tactical approach of Lautenschläger paid off because it fought with a strong list and three of the four allowed foreigners.

nadine Lautenschläger admitted to having thought of a 5-2 win, but the actual result exceeded all expectations. In the second round, Speyer only needed two points to finally secure the title. Marlene Galandi continued her strong performance and defeated her opponent Luise Malzahn, which formed the basis for spoiling blows.

It was finally reserved to put the overall victory by defeating her opponent with a handle. The cheers of the fans and the team broke out and demonstrated the great joy and cohesion within the team. Even if some fighters had to accept unexpected defeats in the following duels, small victories and a pointless point were enough to secure the final result of 10: 4

Team boss Nadine Lautenschläger expressed her satisfaction throughout the season, in which the Speyer women had never lost. The cohesion she has observed among the team members is strong, even if you only meet four times a year. "We always learn how the team spirit drives and supports everyone, and we felt that particularly on this day," she said.

From the new concept of making the finals of men and women take place in the same place, Lautenschläger was also enthusiastic. "The hall was full, the atmosphere was great. The Speyer fans made an excellent mood, the new format was a successful type of implementation," she summed up. The judo world can look forward to the coming years in which the JSV Speyer would like to further consolidate its supremacy in German judo.
