Gilgenstraße, 67346 Speyer, Deutschland - A century full of stories! The Catholic public library St. Joseph in Speyer celebrates a remarkable anniversary: exactly 100 years ago, it opened its doors for the first time, at that time still in a modest tower room of the church on Gilgenstrasse. Today the library shifted to the modern Aegidienhaus and attracts readers in droves. On Friday, November 15th, this special event will be celebrated with a large ceremony that also falls on the nationwide reading day.
In 2023, around 170 readers visited the library and borrowed books, board games and recordings over 5000 times. These impressive numbers show how lively and important the library is for the community. The opening times are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the library invites everyone to share the joy of reading and discovering.
