Stadthalle: rents rise rapidly - Speyer clubs protest!
Speyer, Deutschland - In Speyer there is a significant change: the fees for the use of the town hall are increased. This adaptation has now been officially decided and will be noticeable in the next few months. While the rental costs for the large hall increase from 770 to 1000 euros on a weekday, prices are even increased to 1200 euros at the weekend. However, there is a positive turn for Speyer clubs: their discounts are raised from 50 to 60 percent.
The compromise that met with unanimous approval during the preliminary sentence in the main committee was accepted by a majority at the city council on Thursday evening - but not without resistance. Two members of the Free Voters (FWS) voted, while five AfD council members abstained in the vote. The concerns of the free voters were loudly expressed by Frank Denister. He criticized the high costs for the clubs and called for a complete exemption from fee for them.
technology and costs in focus
Discussion emphasized that the clubs are not only under pressure in terms of rental prices. In other cities such as Hockenheim or Mutterstadt, the situation for the clubs is far cheaper, especially when it comes to the technology provided. In its case, the choir community must buy additional technical equipment worth 6,000 to 8,000 euros for concerts in the city hall, while such costs in Hockenheim are already included in the rental fee.
The Mayor Monika Kabs (CDU) commented on the continued discussions and pointed out that the city hall was still well booked despite the increased prices and was attractive for the local clubs. She explained that the quality of the infrastructure would also be further improved. "At some point it has to be paid for," she said, referring to a cost recovery degree of only 34 percent that should be preserved.
