Berlin, Deutschland - Scholz plans to talks with Putin! In a dramatic step, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced his willingness to talk to the Russian President Vladimir Putin about the Ukraine War. In the ARD show “Caren Miosga”, the SPD politician explained that he had made a decision to resume dialogue with Putin. But be careful! Scholz emphasized that he will not do this on his own. "I am a responsible politician," says Scholz, and he knows that such conversations require numerous preparations and contacts.

The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and Scholz knows that Ukraine must also be involved in these discussions. "We have to make sure that Ukraine can rely on us and does not have to fear that he will be left alone," he said. The Chancellor is aware of the responsibility and wants to do everything possible to prevent the war escalating. a dialogue in sight?

As early as October, Scholz had emphasized his willingness to talk to Putin about just peace in Ukraine. The last phone call between the two heads of state took place in December 2022, where Scholz called for a withdrawal of the Russian troops. In June he said that discussions only make sense if there are specific topics to discuss. Meanwhile, Moscow has explained that Putin is open to a dialogue, despite the tense relationships between Russia and Germany.
