In Ludwigshafen, an exciting photo lecture will take place on Thursday, October 10th, which will draw attention to new, invasive species. The experienced photographer Barbara Schlote will alternatively be a lecture on the Asian hornets and the Nosferatus scenes in the Café, which is located at Rohrlachstraße 76 in the Hemshof district. Entry to this event is cheap with four euros.

Schlote has documented and observed the changes in the domestic fauna for years and observed how the global transport of goods and traveling animals from distant countries settle in Germany. These so -called neobiota often come to Germany unnoticed in luggage or as blind passengers. In particular through climate change, many of these species find an ideal living environment in Germany.

The immigrants of nature

In her lecture, Schlot will give visual insights that illustrate the behavior and habitats of this new species. In particular, the Asian hornets, which is considered larger and more aggressive than domestic wasp species, has already established itself in many regions of Germany. Their presence requires special attention, not only from ecological, but also from a health perspective.

Another focus of the lecture is the nosfare acities, which also stand out due to their striking appearance and their way of life. This type of spider, named after the famous vampire film character, not only arouses interest, but also concern with regard to the effects of invasive species on biodiversity and domestic ecosystems. The lecture offers a valuable opportunity to learn more about these and other types and to understand how nature is constantly changing.
