Parent taxis in front of school: Chaos in Nassau endanger security!
Nassau, Deutschland - The current challenges when bringing and picking up children at schools are becoming increasingly clear in the Rhein-Lahn district. What was once an everyday routine - sending the children to school on foot - has changed noticeably in recent years. Many parents rely on the so -called "parent taxi", which leads to partly chaotic traffic situations in cramped residential areas.
Headmaster Thorsten Winkes from the Freiherr-vom-Stein School in Nassau is concerned about the parking Situation in his area. "The parking situation here on the mountain is very narrow," he explains. He points out that there is a stopping space for several buses on Bachbergweg, just a few steps from school. There was also a so-called kiss-and-go zone, which enables children to quickly leave children out of the car without traffic jams.

The decline in traditional types of locomotion has tightened the problems with the parent taxis. The streets are often clogged with waiting cars, which not only endangers the safety of the children, but also molested residents. Winkes speaks of a "considerable increase in traffic" that makes school routes more dangerous for the children. "We ask the parents to consider this and rethink their traffic patterns," he says.
The traffic volume is not only influenced by the parents' cars. School bus traffic also has to be organized, which brings even more complexity. Another headmaster from the area confirmed that it has become increasingly difficult to ensure a smooth process without endangering the safety of the children.
Like other schools in the region, the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Schule also faces the challenge of finding a compromise between convenience for parents and security for the students. Winkes suggests that parents should maybe let their children get more on foot or by bike. "It would not only relax the parking situation, but also promote the fitness of the children," said the headmaster.
It remains to be hoped that rethinking among parents will start to improve the situation around the schools. The way to school should be safe and pleasant for children - as it used to be the case. More details on this topic offers the article by www.rhein-zeitung.de .
