Digital rebirth: St. Barbara Church in Lahnstein shines again!

Niederlahnstein, Deutschland - Lahnstein | The historical St. Barbara Church digitally resurrected a spectacular project! Pascal Nicolas, a committed architect, has created an impressive virtual reconstruction of the once majestic building, which was on today's church square with a lot of skill and dedication. Supported by Bernd Krinninger, the owner of Heimbach roofing, Nicolas Akribisch has used old records and plans from the Lahnstein City Archives to reproduce the neo -Gothic masterpiece in detail. "I often wondered what the church must have looked like there," said Nicolas. The heart of his work is a breathtaking 3D printing, which consists of 15 individual parts and needed over 219 hours of printing time!

The challenge was enormous! Since the church had long been torn down, Nicolas had to make do without modern measurement methods. Nevertheless, he managed to precisely reconstruct the neo -Gothic church, which was created between 1888 and 1889 from the baroque St. Barbarakapelle. The new church, which was inaugurated in 1889, offered space for 1,100 believers - but that was not enough for the growing community of Niederlahnstein. Tragic incidents, such as the serious accident of Johann Degen during the Christmas mass in 1936, finally led to the demolition of the building. The foundation stone for the new building was laid in 1938, but this too was largely destroyed during an air raid in the Second World War.

a valuable heir

Pascal Nicolas' Passion for digital reconstruction is more than just one project - it is a tribute to the history of Lahnstein! His work combines modern technology with the preservation of tradition and inheritance. City archivist Bernd Geil is enthusiastic: "The reconstruction of the old church will not only keep the memory of the historical building awake, but also offer the citizens of Lahnstein the opportunity to learn more about the past of their city." This impressive model is now kept in the city archive and is a valuable document of regional history!
