Renate Vogl takes stock: What she moved as a senior representative
Pirmasens, Deutschland - For six years Renate Vogl was the tireless voice of the seniors in Pirmasens! Now the outgoing chairman of the senior advisory board hands over the scepter to Wolfgang Klys and looks back on an term of office full of challenges and success. Vogl, who was passionate about the interests of the older generation, speaks openly about the frustrations she experienced during her time and the topics that were particularly important to her.
The public toilets in Pirmasens were a central concern of Vogl. "This is a human right!" She emphasizes. Despite repeated demands and the support of the citizens, the desire for more barrier -free toilets remains unfulfilled. "The city has no money," was often the answer that it received. But the Senior Advisory Board does not give up: "Steter drops hollow the stone," says Vogl and remains optimistic that a small solution is in the works.
challenges and success
The biggest challenge of her term was the introduction of the community sister. "It took over a year for the job to be occupied," recalls Vogl. But there were also bright spots: the redesign of the senior sports equipment in the Strecktalpark and the continuation of the "Senior -friendly service" campaign are among their greatest successes. "The seniors have to be heard, but that does not mean that their wishes will also come true," she explains.
With a wink, she gives her successor the advice to always hook up. "Sometimes you have to drill thick boards, sometimes a call is enough," she says. Vogl, who looks back on a moving career at the age of 73, is retained as a member of the Senior Advisory Board. Your experiences and tireless efforts will continue to be important for the seniors in Pirmasens.
