Campaign in Mainz: SVW competes against Wormatia to a gripping draw!
Mainz, Deutschland - an exciting duel, but not a big win! The SVW Mainz and Wormatia Worms II separated on the square with a 1-1 draw in a gripping national league game. What a roller coaster of feelings in front of 100 enthusiastic spectators! The first half was a real show of strength, with the Wormsers in the lead with an unexpected goal through Lazar Ilic in the 37th minute. "The ball just came out of nowhere," said SVW department head Stephan Protz disappointed when he spoke about the situation that had the opponent cheered.
tremendous tension until the end
Awesome, however, the SVW's reaction in the second half of the game! The ever dangerous Patrick Wagner, who raced over the field like a flash, secured the equalization in the 54th minute. Tim Gabel conjured up a perfect pass through the chain of four, and Wagner casually converted from five meters under the crossbar. "We were oppressively superior," said Protz, while the match was on the brink. The equalization ensured an exciting turn that enthusiastically had the audience cheered.
But after the game there was quiet disappointment. Vertz noted: "If you have a little better chance and play at home, it's always a bit disappointing." Despite the great preliminary round and the fighting spirit of his team, he did not see the draw as a triumph, but rather as a missed chance. In the Landesliga you will have to see whether SVW Mainz can implement these teachings from the equivalent fight against Wormatia Worms II for the next games.
