Fastnacht and choice: Mainz faces a turbulent challenge!

The carnival time in Mainz faces an unexpected challenge! The Bundestag election was preferred to February 23, exactly into the High phase of the Shrovetide. This message caused excitement for the Fastnacht, because just a few days after the election, the popular television session "Mainz remains Mainz as it sings and laughs". Johannes Bersch, who appears as a Moguntia and keeps political lectures, must now react quickly and adapt his speeches. "To this extent, this is new to me," he admits.

The new chief car manufacturer for the motif cars of the Rose Monday, Stefan Hisge, also sees himself under pressure. "When I heard about the appointment, a few gray hair grew," he reports. His goal is to bring current motif cars to the train route eight days after the election. Despite the term crossing, he remains optimistic: "We will sit down and plan how we best proceed."

The carnival associations also have to struggle with the concern that their halls, which normally serve as electoral offices, could be affected. But the city of Mainz has already given the all -clear: "We don't want trouble with the carnival clubs," assures press spokesman Ralf Peterhawahr. The carnival can keep their halls, and alternative electoral offices are sought to avoid the celebrations.
